Thank a Vet! Today, tomorrow and every day!

I love the United States of America. I have lived in the good 'ol USA all my life.  There are those that would love it here too, if they could live here and enjoy our freedoms.  There are some that would love to take our freedoms from us and completely change our way of life and our culture.  And if it wasn't for our beloved military, they may have succeeded in the past and certainly would in the future. How easy it is to take for granted what we have grown up with and seems to come so easily to us.  How easy it is to forget the millions of men and women who have put their lives on the line and the millions who died in doing that.
President Woodrow Wilson first proclaimed an Armistice Day on November 11, 1919.   I would also like to thank him for that.   Did you know that in 1953, an Emporia KS gentleman by the name of Stephan Riod, a shoe repair shop owner, came up with the idea to extend Armistice Day to include all veterans.  Not just those who died in World War II.   And the Emporia Chamber of Commerce took up the cause with him.   90% of the merchants in Emporia KS supported closing their doors on Nov. 11 to celebrate ALL veterans.    The bill for this was pushed through Congress and was signed by President Eisenhower on May 26, 1954.  That would be 16 months before I was born.
Another interesting little fact...  Did you know it is a tradition to have a ravioli meal on Veterans Day?  I did not know that.  It started with President Woodrow Wilson.   In the ending days of World War I, he knew that returning soldiers would be eager for a home cooked meal.  Do you know what he did?  He invited 2,000 soldiers to the White House for ravioli.  He even helped his chefs cook it!  He then commented, "Hunger, breeds madness."  Wasn't he something?
We should all be humbled and forever thankful to those who protect our freedom.  There is no other country in the world like the USA.  And there never will be.
It is also the Marine's Birthday today.  SEMPER FI! to all Marines past, present and future.
So as you go about your day, if you see a serviceman or someone you know to be a veteran, please stop and take the time to thank them.  You might even give them a big old hug around the neck.  They sure deserve it!

One24 Sweepstakes

I thought I had seen it all in networking.  I mean I have tried everything under the sun.  My love/hate relationship with networking started way back in the 70's with Amway.  I thought, "What a concept!"  Since then I've been in STS, Freeway 100, NuSkin, Melaleuca, Silvermania, YTB, and a few others I can't recall at the moment.  Now, I STILL think it is an awesome concept. However, I had pretty much given up on MY ability to be successful with it.  I had contacted friends and acquaintances (and anyone else that came within shouting distance) with everything I was ever in.  They now look at me like I'm some kind of nut!  So, I had written it off as a wonderful business ...... for some people.  Then a friend came to me about ANOTHER NEW COMPANY!  Sheesh.  But out of respect, I went to look at it. MPB. A grocery business.  Well, everyone needs groceries, right?  So when I got home, I started doing some research on it.  I came across this fellow's review of it and he seemed fair. Not bashing it to try to get you in HIS business.  In fact I don't think he mentioned his business.  Anyway, I spoke with him on the phone.  Very nice guy.  I liked him.  So I ask him what business he was in.  He told me he was in a company called One24.  Now he didn't tell me a lot... just sent me to his website to see some short videos.
So I did go but was not looking to get into another networking business.  Especially with those stupid legs!  I hate those legs you have to balance.... that NEVER are balanced.  Anyway, as I was watching the videos, my jaw dropped.  This was totally different than ANYTHING I had EVER seen before.  It was set up so EVERYONE can succeed.  I was impressed, to say the least.  HOWEVER, since I had introduced my fiance', and drug him into a couple of MLM's, I knew he would NOT be receptive to me getting into yet another one.  He was VERY anti-MLM/networking business.  I knew I better not sign up for anything.  But I couldn't help but go back to watch those videos again.  It was so unique and I just loved the idea of everyone being able to really earn money.  I mean, that would eliminate the problem of people signing up for one month and dropping out!

So... uh oh... here I go again.  I started digging in to research this new company.  The more I saw, the more I was impressed.  This guy, Mark Seyforth, had figured it out.  He saw the problems with networking and came up with this plan that is pure genius.  So..... of course.... I jumped in!  With both feet!  To heck with the consequences with my fiance... I'll deal with that later.  lol

This is the start of my new relationship..... with One24.
